Weddings at Two Temple Place

A Hidden Victorian Gem on the Thames

For couples who love the idea of discovering a London venue that many of their guests will never have seen before, Two Temple Place is one of the city’s great hidden treasures.

Overlooking the Thames near the Strand, this richly detailed late Victorian mansion was built for William Waldorf Astor and is filled with carved wood, stained glass, marble, literary references and wonderfully eccentric architectural details.

For American couples seeking a destination wedding with genuine British character and complete privacy, it offers the feeling of taking over a remarkable private house in central London rather than entering a conventional event venue.

WHY CHOOSE TWO TEMPLE PLACE FOR YOUR LONDON WEDDING?

Two Temple Place rewards curiosity. From the sweeping staircase and carved figures to hidden doors, stained glass and Astor’s former Library, the building reveals itself gradually as guests move through it.

That makes it particularly effective for weddings. A ceremony can be followed by champagne in the courtyard or galleries before guests move upstairs for dinner, with dancing later in the Lower Gallery.

Because the entire house is hired exclusively, the experience feels private and residential despite the central London location.

OUR PERSPECTIVE AS A TWO-TEMPLE PLACE WEDDING PLANNER

Two Temple Place is a venue we know particularly well. We have worked here many times and are proud to be a preferred wedding planner for the House.

Its charm lies in the details, but from a planning perspective, its greatest strength is the way the rooms connect. The staircase, galleries, Library, Great Hall and courtyard allow us to build a genuine progression through the celebration, revealing different parts of the house rather than showing guests everything at once.

Because the interiors are already so characterful, our design approach is usually one of careful editing, adding contemporary personality while allowing Astor’s extraordinary craftsmanship to remain visible.

WEDDING SPACES AND CAPACITY AT TWO TEMPLE PLACE

The Great Hall can accommodate up to 120 guests for a seated dinner and 150 for a reception. The Library provides an intimate space for up to 30 at dinner while the Upper Gallery can be used in combination with it.

Across the first floor, seated dining can extend to approximately 150 guests, while the building can host receptions of up to 300.

The courtyard overlooking the Thames adds a valuable outdoor element in fine weather and can be used for drinks and canapés within the venue’s operating conditions.

WHO IS A TWO TEMPLE PLACE WEDDING BEST SUITED TO?

We recommend Two Temple Place to couples who are less interested in famous names and more interested in discovering somewhere with story, craftsmanship and individuality.

It is ideal for a sophisticated destination wedding where privacy matters and where the couple wants guests to feel that they have been invited into one of London’s best-kept secrets.

PLANNING FROM THE USA

For American couples, Two Temple Place offers a particularly appealing version of historic London because it feels both impressive and little known.

Its position close to the Thames, Covent Garden, the Strand and the City gives guests easy access to central London while the exclusive hire creates a sense of retreat once they step inside.

We manage the venue, creative suppliers, production and guest logistics in the UK and can build the wedding into a wider London weekend with hotels and surrounding events selected to complement the House.
