Inspiration for a beautifully styled, luxuriously classical, elegant country house wedding.
Cliveden House is a Grade I listed stately home in Berkshire, with a rich and decadent past, now an exclusive and glamorous 5 * hotel, offering unrivalled luxury and comfort in exquisite English countryside.
Aquired by William Waldorf Astor in 1793, it remained in the Astor family until 1985, during which time it was the location of many lavish - and occasionally infamous - society parties hosted by Nancy Astor and frequented by prestigious guests including Franklin D Roosevelt, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill and George Bernard Shaw.
This inspirational editorial was conceived and curated by Couture Events Ltd in collaboration with Hair and Make Up Artiste Mari Chase our vision was to reflect the timeless sophistication and history of Cliveden, but with a modern edge, to appeal to modern, stylish, international couples.
Our couple share a mutual love of quintessential England and the Ralph Lauren aesthetic and our groom retains an immutable bond with his beautiful horse.
Our elegant invitation, designed by Leeming Brothers, features a bespoke, classical, hand drawn monogram of the couple’s initials intertwined, enclosed in a beautiful hand calligraphed envelope,
fastened with a bespoke wax seal featuring a line drawing of our groom’s horse, Tiger.
When styling our bride, we carefully incorporated two key 2019 accent trends: 3D floral embroidery mixed with foliage applique and the use of metallics in the incredibly detailed silver beading.
These were reflected in her her gown, her veil, her hairpiece and her shoes; the gown was particularly versatile as it featured a number of complementary layers, allowing us to create multiple looks which reflected wider trends such as of optional high neck coverage and elegant long sleeves. It also allowed her style to change as we removed layers as the day went on, from ceremony to dining to dancing.
To complete the look, we took inspiration from Meghan Markle - who spent the night preceding her wedding to Prince Harry at Cliveden House with her mother – by using a light and natural make up palette complemented by an elegant low chignon.
Our stylish groom wore a tailored cupro lined 3-piece double breasted tuxedo
with silk grosgrain detailing, occasionally revealing his contrasting brightly coloured socks,
which added personality and fun.
Even handsome horse, Tiger, wore a beautiful hand stitched bespoke browband finished in silver.
For the wedding breakfast, we wanted to complement the grandeur of the Rococo styled French Dining
and the incredible view over the grounds, so our installations complemented both the gold and sage décor and the expanse of manicured lawns with a palette of pinks, mauves and pale green – as seen in our floral, placement and cake designs.
Our magnificent 6 tier cake was designed and crafted by Yevnig, of Unique Cakes by Yevnig. her design reflected the couple's monogram as well as the floral lace embellishment of the wedding gown and her sugar flowers were incredible replicas of the flowers in the bouquet and table centres.
Our table design was inspired by the heritage colours of pinks through to purples, complemented by sage green and gold touches. We installed fabulously elegant candelabras to balance the height of our tall floral centrepieces as well as a luxuriously abundant floral table runner.
The stunning floral designs and and candles were created by Russell New at Blomster Designs Flowers.
We sourced beautiful tableware in pink and gold and matched it with the palest pink napkins on crisp white linen.
