Cosy, twinkly and celebratory - is there anything more magical than a winter wedding?
Hosting your wedding in the month of December means you can add a stylishly festive twist to many of your wedding elements such as the floral designs, your cocktails, the stationery, the food, the cake and of course your attire! I'll share with you below some examples from a recent Couture client wedding at Hedsor House in Berkshire, UK.
Epic floral design was a key element of this wedding so for the ceremony we installed a beautiful arch over the loch gate, as well as two feature pedestals at the front of the church and gorgeous hand tied pew ends all along both sides of the aisle. All the flower arrangements featured a mix of seasonal greenery along with silver sparkly twigs and foliage, complementing my couple's colour palette of gold, silver, white and putty pink. The church already had their own Christmas tree installed but we decided to augment this by installing 6 additional pea-lit Christmas trees all along both sides of the aisle to frame the congregation and create a fairytale Narnia type ambiance. Naturally we finished off the look with lots and lots of lanterns!
Drinks Reception - Central Hall, Hedsor House
For the drinks reception back at Hedsor House, the venue had their own feature tree installed in the main hall, which we complemented with huge pedestals of flowers in tall silver vases framing either side of the main doors into Central Hall.
On arrival into Central Hall, guests were immediately struck by the most fabulous full size golden tree, styled with hanging nightlights, clusters of lanterns and with a dusting of 'snow' around its base paired with a magical suspended ceiling installation of silver & gold giant orbs and silver confetti balloons.
Our florist Mary Jane Vaughan had installed a wonderful mantelpiece design in Central Hall and small posies sat atop the poseur tables. We repurposed the flowers from church by installing the pedestals outside the Ballroom and by reusing the sparkly pew ends to style the fireplaces. We even had a large sprig of mistletoe hanging from the doors!
I had recommended a very cool chill out quartet to my couple to play during reception drinks and we styled them in fabulous sparkly dresses to complement the season. We had lit beautiful Jo Malone candles everywhere as well so the venue was beautifully scented and guests were offered mouthwatering festive cocktails on arrival created by our caterers Rhubarb such as Clementine, triple sec & burnt orange bellinis and Cranberry & pomgranate bellinis.
Wedding Breakfast - The Ballroom, Hedsor House
As guests moved through to the wedding breakfast, the two pedestals from church framed the double doors into the ballroom beautifully. We had styled the tables with crystal candelabra surrounded by white and putty flowers, silver sprayed twigs and foliagemercerised nightlights, and of course light dusting of snow. The white and gold colour palette was continued through the carefully chosen tableware - gold engraved glassware, gold rimmed charger plates and heavy gold cutlery. We had also installed 6 led lit Christmas trees around the edge of the ballroom to create the most wonderfully warm and cosy ambiance. Each place setting was finished off with a spray rose and a little sprig of seasonal fir. At the end of the meal, guests were served liqueurs along with the most mouthwatering mini mince pies dusted with icing sugar.
The After Party - Central Hall, Hedsor House
For the after party, we had transferred Central Hall from being a gold and white twinkly space to a nightclub complete with black LED dance floor, mirror ball and snowflake projections on the walls and ceiling. The band was styled in sparkly jackets ad and our lead singer Matthew wore one of his many unforgettable outfits which our guests adored. Guests danced the night away and at the very end, they were delighted to find we had packed the table flowers into small guest gift bags which they could take away with them to enjoy for many more days at home over Christmas.
